• Hi Linda, sorry I took so long to see this. 1). The hardest loss for me as a writer was Lawrence. I went through a lot of tissue writing that scene with Pamela lying beside him. He's probably the one that I hear about most from readers, they really wish I would have left him alive. David was tough too, because I wrote Part 11 last, the rest of the book was done and had gone off to my editors to get that process started. I'm pretty sure I put it off deliberately. I had a good cry while writing the scene with him in the tower room. • Where are you having the party? If it's at a venue -- restaurant, pub, hall, etc. -- people may be more inclined to pay than if you're hosting it as a private home. If you're having it at an outside venue and plan to have alcohol available, I'd definitely charge for that. • You are at Begbie's still? Sorry if I get the name wrong. I think in that case, you could charge a small fee. Yes, you could charge for alcohol but if no one or only a few drink in order not to pay then you will still be footing the bill for the free food. I think people I haven't been to a launch so not sure so if Carla is accurate that the food is free there might be an expectation for that and then all they have to domes avoid the alcohol so it's all free for them. Not saying people will do this but I've seen it in other circumstances. The girls are right, it's a tough call so you will have to go with what you are comfortable with.   • It's a public venue- a local pub that's got a really nice atmosphere. I have to pay to have the venue for the night, pay for the food etc. Outside food other than a cake cannot be brought in.
