I imagine the other person who calls Jamie 'Yasha' would be Yevgena. I do so hope we see more of her in books to come. I noticed when I looked back at the beginning of EU to make sure I spelled Yevgena correctly that Johnathan Wexler has already been introduced to us; I'd forgotten that. Those two have been drinking mates for a while I see. The other snippet is out of place so I see why it will not be used. There was no mention of Casey recognizing Pamela's pregnancy at the end of Mermaid but he must have known when they made love in the ruined house. He obviously realizes it here and it appears it is their first time together after the separation. So lovely, but I can see how it not longer fits. Is it difficult to give birth to these poignant creations, only to push them aside when the final work is complete?

Yes, the other person would be Yevgena, and we'll definitely see her in this book. Casey and Pamela didn't make love at the ruined cottage, when it says he bared her skin to the night, he's merely running his hands down the sides of her neck and across her collarbones and yes they both feel the chemistry, but they don't consummate it there actually. No, I instinctively know what fits and what doesn't and sometimes it's simply that the storyline has changed and it cannot possibly be crammed in. And yes, Jamie and John go way, way back.
