And then he was inside her, hard and immediate, the anger, fear and lust combining in a potent mix that had her climaxing within seconds. He joined her swiftly, burying his face in her neck, his beard rasping her fine skin and making her gasp.

She regained her faculties slowly, for the world was still whirling about her senses. Dazed, she put a hand to her face, her other hand still braced against the wall, seemingly the only solid connection she had in the universe.

“Wh-what was that?”

Casey stepped back and she shuddered at the sudden rush of cool air on all the bare portions of her body. “I don’t know,” he said sounding as dazed as she felt. “My da’ said starin’ death in the face could be a powerful aphrodisiac. I didn’t believe him, but as usual the man was right. Christ I- I’m sorry Jewel.”

“Don’t be,” she said, “I just- you surprised me is all.”

She didn’t look at him while rearranging her clothing into some semblance of decency. She found she couldn’t meet his eyes, as if what had happened here somehow went beyond the boundaries of their normal intimacy. She snapped her garter into place, and smoothed the dress down over her hips. She glanced up to find Casey with a bemused look on his face.

“I am sorry, ‘twasn’t right to do that here to ye nevertheless,” he said. “But after seein’ ye out there, an’ all those men an’ knowin’ Pamela what could happen I felt as though I needed to put my mark on ye.
