Subject: 5. It is a brutally sad chapter. I laughed too at Pat's comment. Gallows humour has always made me laugh, maybe because my mom worked for 16 years as a paediatirc emergency nurse and my dad was a cop for 25 years. You had to make the morbid joke or risk going insane.

  • 6. I can't imagine finding out that one of my boys had been abused this way, never mind that he allowed it to keep us safe. I would not know whether to be enraged at the person who'd harm them so, at myself for not seeing it, or broken-hearted for my boy.
