Sarah Palin rises in polls as Obama slips, new surveys show

http://features.csmonitor.com/politics/2009/12/07/sarah-palin-rises-in-polls-as-obama-slips-new-surveys-show/

President Obama's job approval rating has hit a new low, even as Sarah Palin's popularity appears to be on the rebound, new polls show.

The latest USA Today/Gallup Poll puts Mr. Obama's job approval rating at 47 percent, a new low for his 10-month administration. His job approval ratings rose briefly after last week's announcement of a new policy in Afghanistan but then fell back in Dec. 4-6 polling, Gallup said.

It wasn't meant to be a blow - low or otherwise. And I haven't noticed two young daughters in a lot of photos of Obama.

I was really not going to post anything here anymore. You can't get a point across without someone taking offense. I think I will stick with people face-to-face.

Merry Christmas everyone. And Happy Hannukah, mupps.

It's why I haven't checked this board at all for some time. As much as I like what should be an opportunity to exchange thoughts with people I respect and enjoy, reasonable conversations just don't happen here. Intentions be damned, people read hate and run with it.

It is what it is.

Happy Holidays to all, even if you don't agree with me. :)

There is no shortage of hypocrisy in the world. I would find it exhausting to focus on it.

If I want to hear snarky comments I will turn on MSNBC.

Deb, you are being disingenuous. Don't act like that was an innocent comment and not a slam on Sarah. That is classic passive-aggresive behavior. Newsweek ran a cover story with her in work out gear, one that was taken for another magazine. Would they pull that shit on Hillary? What is it with liberals who cannot tolerate a conservative woman in politics? It is sexism, pure and simple. I can't help but think that if she was out there shouting pro-abortion bullshit, she would be a hero to those same people.

I am so tired of it. Why can't differences be discussed honestly anymore? Why does the media think if they repeat something over and over again that it will become truth? I guess it is working on about 47% of people, but more are waking up every day.

A lot of people are tired. Tired of being called stupid and racist. Tired of being lied to. Do you remember the days of Reagan democrats? Wake up. History repeats, you know.

[> [> Jeannine, honey O. M. G. you did not just say that -- jayjay, 19:55:01 12/19/09 Sat [1]

let's take it point by point.

"would they pull that shit on hillary?"

lol.... they done did. remember back last millinieum when she was First Lady?

"What is it with liberals who can not tolerate a conservative woman in politics. It is sexism."

i dunno Jeannine, you tell me why conservatives can not tolerate a liberal woman in politics. You're from Texas. You could tell me stories about George W and Anne Richards. oh yeah, don't forget my buddy Karl.

"Can't help but believe that she [Sarah] was out there spouting pro-abortion bullshit, she would be a hero... "

Jeannie, who could possibly spew pro-abortion bullshit? not even me. I'll believe in pro-choice to the end of my days. Even Gov Palin slipped up during the campaign and said she chose to have her challenged son.

so did Bristol, i reckon. at least they had a legal choice.

and, as always, i bid you well, and happy holidays! :-)

The President needs to STOP using our military to try and improve his image. He is fooling no one, least of all the military.

[> Bye -- DizzyDeb The Hypocrit, 06:11:54 12/10/09 Thu [1]

There's no sense in trying to explain anything I've said since several seem to know my intent better than I do.

For the record, I have NO problem with a conservative woman in politics. For the record, I also thought the Newsweek cover photo was uncalled for. For the record, I don't base my support of ANY candidate on whether or not they support abortion.

As far as media repeating lies over and over - depends on your political leaning. I find some of what I consider 'lies' being repeated daily, i.e. health reform will bring death panels, euthanasia, abortions, ruin Medicare, cover illegal aliens, etc. Doesn't matter what anyone says to disagree, these comments are still made daily. For my own fill of 'snarky' comments, I can always turn to Fox (We report, you decide) News.

And, God forbid the President show respect for the military because it's never going to be seen as genuine by the anti-Obama crowd. If he didn't show respect for them, he would be lambasted just as hard.

Of course he's been photographed with his daughters. He's a fucking father! I happen to think that Ms. Palin uses her child as a prop when she visits pro-life rallies to show how heroic she was not to have aborted this beautiful child. And I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THAT! But call that what it is, too.

Every politician in this country uses whatever props and sound bites they can to get support and elected.

But as I said, this is enough for me. I'm actually having a nice dinner party with a mix of my friends tomorrow night where we can discuss politely and with respect the day's issues.

I hope everyone has a very Happy Holiday Season. I'll probably miss this board one of these days.

"It wasn't meant to be a blow - low or otherwise."

or

"I happen to think that Ms. Palin uses her child as a prop when she visits pro-life rallies to show how heroic she was not to have aborted this beautiful child."

Your first post was meant to illustrate how touchy Muppy is... and your comment was totally innocent. Your second to show....?..... how unreasonable I am? How Sarah only had her baby for political expediency? How horrible she is to travel with her small child?

Maybe you can discuss this hypocrisy with your mixed group of polite, respectful, reasonable friends.

Gov Palin DOES use Trig as a prop. i don't know about *pro-life rallies". I've never seen her at one. But i did see her at Sam's.

signin' books.

Trig. That poor lil shivverin cold confused baby. Here ya go, got the photo. Now you take him back on the bus, and I'll see ya at the next airport.

Poor Sarah, damned if she don't stay home and raise the children, damned if she do pursue her career and tote Trig on her hip.

Don't post on the political board if you must, but I agree with you on most issues of the day, and I don't want to lose track of you! will you send me your email address, please?

Both MSNBC and Fox are not news channels, they are opinion channels. But I like Rachel Maddow.

i get my news from Jon Stewart.

[> I must be a glutton for punishment -- DizzyDeb, 14:29:45 12/11/09 Fri [1]

Why do I want to put myself out for more hits. But really, Jeannine, you can turn words to your own interpretation better than anyone I know.

When I posted my original comment about dandling a baby, it was simply meant as a light-hearted jab at Obama's slipping ratings, but was immediately taken as something much more sinister. We Obamabot-liberals CAN actually make a joke at his expense every once in a while.

Then I'm called 'snarky', a hypocrit, and disingenuous. Quite honestly, I would LOVE to discuss differences honestly. In fact, I've made that very request several times here. When I ask for the conservatives on this board to discuss their views, I am torn apart for 'saying' that all conservatives think one way. It just doesn't work. People here can't possibly conceive that someone who disagrees with them on issues is making a comment in anything but a nasty way. And I have NEVER called you racist or stupid.

I did not imply, or mean to imply, that Ms Palin had her child to further her political career. As I said, he is a beautiful child and I have GREAT respect for any woman who carries a child with a disability to full term. But having said this, I'll bet dollars to donuts that there is a publicist who is telling her to be photographed with him as often as possible. It's the nature of politics these days. And EVERY politician does it in some fashion.

My group of friends is indeed polite, respectful, and reasonable. And they are also both conservative and liberal. And we have some very lively (to put it mildly) discussions. But all I meant by that comment was that we can hear the tone and inflection others are using to know whether what we are saying is serious or a joke. And we have yet to resort to calling each other names.

Now, take any of the above how you will - but none of it was typed with a heavy stroke or angry thoughts in my head.

And now I honestly and sincerely do wish everyone here a very Happy Holiday Season.
