what's a few more going to do?

Hee hee, the political arena is a three rings circus. I'm sorry to say that I find all politics under the big top (U.S. Capitol). Clowns on both sides of the aisle, some more scary than others :-)

Honestly, I'm all for a logical discussion of the merits (or lack thereof) of President Obama. But, honestly, are there people out there today who actually believe that he wasn't born in America? Whenever someone brings that up, I just stop listening to what they have to say.

I accept that Barry was born in the U.S. Are there people who really believe he wasn't? I know there are people who believe 9/11 was a U.S. operations. Good grief!

The fact of the matter is, if a person doesn't like Barak Obama, they are never going to like Barak Obama. They will find anything and everything about him, large or small, and blow it completely out of proportion and make it into the end of the world. It was the same thing over and over again with President Bush and it will probably be the same with whoever is president after President Obama.

I believe in redemption. He should have jumped on jobs first before health care. Doesn't it make sense to have a job first before paying mandatory premiums? I'm just a working class nobody but put people to work first before asking for money.

I don't understand where all of the reasonable people in this country have gone. Why can't people take a step back, far enough so their opinions aren't tainted by their red or blue glasses through which they view the world, and really look (REALLY LOOK) at the issues we are facing today. Everyone seems to be so concerned with partisanship (and that's people on both sides of the political spectrum) that we've completely lost sight of what is really good for the American people. Everyone is so busy pointing fingers at eachother to place blame about the state our country is in and no one seems willing to stop for a minute and actually do something about it.

I wear purple glasses. I'm can be very liberal and very conservative at the same time :-) I prefer the color violet, so appropriate for this season.

It's just easier to gripe about what he said or did and throw around the scary buzzwords (Communist and socialist and leninist! Oh my!) than it is to have a reasonable conversation about what's really going on. And until people can do that, I'll just try to keep my mouth shut and do my work and enjoy my life the best I can.

What do you think is really going on? Seriously, until I know I can't respond. How about the buzzword alturist?

Carrie, I respect you. This response is not to be thought of as being a "slam." Hey, it rhymes with spam :-) It's not spam either.

First, I think that there are people out there who really believe that Obama was not born in America. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama_citizenship_conspiracy_theories Yes, Wikipedia is not always the most accurate site to get information, but I think it sums the birther movement up fairly well.

Secondly, aside from political issues like healthcare reform and the war, I think that a huge problem with America today is that Americans have completely forgotten how to be nice to each other. There is a discouraging lack of common courtesy in how people relate to each other. We're not looking out for our neighbors. We've become so self-centered and entitled that we can't even take a minute to put ourselves in someone else's shoes to try to see things from their perspective.

Most of us are selfish and spoiled and lazy. We want all of the rewards that come with living in this amazing country, but we don't want to actually do anything to earn them. We've stopped thinking about how our actions will affect other people and if we do think about it, we likely don't really care.

I love this country and everything it stands for. I really do. I love America, but sometimes I can't stand Americans. Most of the time it seems like we live in a nation of spoiled 3-year-olds who throw tantrums if they don't get their way or if they think someone got more cookies at snack time.

I recognize these qualities in myself and I have been trying to change. I've been trying to listen to people and realize that there are two sides to every story. I try to think about the choices I make and I try not to hurt anyone. I'm not perfect, by any means, but I'm trying. And I don't think that anything will change unless people wake up and start acting like people who deserve everything our country gives them.

And now I'll go back to keeping my mouth shut.
