Yes, Miriam
it is the first time I study this subject as an isoleded term, and now I have a clearer idea of genre. Moreover, there are some important aspects that I learned and that I will consider in my classes from now on, such as the interrelationship between spoken and written modes, social function and cultural contex among others. But, something that really called my attention was the enphasis on developing a knowledge base before focusing on any target genre ( as mentioned on page 191), since it is not possible for students to write about something they don't know anything about. Don't you think so peers?
