Something i think it's interesting in the text is about locutionay meaning, illocutionary force and perlocutionary force. Learners have to concern not only on the meaning of the linguistic expression, but also what is the fuction, purporse or intended meaning of a request. There's an example in the text: someone says "It is cold in here" and you are next to the window, the intention is: "Please close the window". Perlocutionary force is the effect the act has on the addresse.
