【本報訊】理工大學宣布明年十月開設全港首個動物護理學士自資課程，收生三十九人，畢業生可從事獸醫護士或助理工作。理大預計會有逾千人報名爭奪不足四十個學位，並指課程有望於二○一二年獲政府資助。

課程與英國倫敦大學皇家獸醫學院合辦，課程主任高文宇表示，四年全日制課程全期收費二十七萬三千元，英國派出四名教師教授動物理論、指導實習，本港四名教師則教授科學理論，課程亦會介紹中醫治療。學生每學期實習六周，部分可到英國的農場或動物醫院實習，本港則可到賽馬會、海洋公園等地實習。
