While I dont happen to have a Baker I do use a ship's carbine. I have been completely satisfied with it ( ships carbine ) and would be very confident using it in the field. I use 80 grains of ffg a i/2 inch lubricated felt wad a .715 round ball with a lite patch to hold ball in place. IT knocks a terrific blow to an armour steel plate gong that I use and I can easily hit it. You might also try the Rogers Rangers cut down Bess as well I have one of those and it is very handy and I use a .730 round ball in it. I hope this helps.

John
