I know we discussed this via email already, but I thought I'd answer it here for the benefit of others.

To sum it up:

We feel that the original lock that was copied to build the English Lock musket was originally a snaphaunce, so it would not be a big deal for a skilled tinkerer to reconvert it back to one. There would be a few screw holes to move, and a couple of slots to cut. There are a couple of parts that would need to be fabricated, but they are also available commercially.

I'm thinking that it is a project easily done in the simplest of home workshops. Much of it would be Dremel-work.

No, I'm not volunteering to do it, I just don't have the time, but I know there are folks out there who could bckdate one of the English locks to a true snaphaunce for less than building a new lock.

We've got a few spare (new, never installed on a gun) English locks available for $150 if there is anyone out there that want's to tinker with one and re-invent the snaphaunce.
