Date Posted: 07:35:55 11/22/07 Thu Softly Burns the Candle Amidst the pain of the crumbling, Where all the work seemed for nothing, I felt a heart breaking, It felt like my own, Tears were shed without denial, Rugs pulled out from under new shoes, Just when the feet seemed to be stable, The world stopped spinning for a time, The hurt, bubbling like lava, Rising through her core, searing, tearing, Yet I felt sick in unison. We talked until the sun rose, Laughing at the situation as only we could, Imagining the Lard, melting, dripping, Onto the flames of eternal damnation, Burning the walls of crumbling stone, As the Judas returned to lick arse, Then curl up on the master’s lap….. Yet somehow we smiled, There would be roses in our garden next year, Watered with hope and love, There was a horizon beckoning, A new room, more beautiful than ever, That drew her back, time after time, Then as we drifted in the endless hours, Our world was once more illuminated, Flickering hope and destiny on our faces, No more need for pale pink walls, Softly burns the candle, Our never ending beacon of hope. © Paul Osborne 2007. ![]() [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
