Stretching

I lay in bed, star shaped me,
Trying to touch both sides,
With all the flex my torso provides,
Sadly it seemed not to be,

I try most every angle known,
Stretching toes and fingers there,
Hoping I have length to spare,
Oh bother! Why have I never grown,

In a sweaty tangled state,
My competitive spirit set to win,
I spread myself, complete prostrate,
Sucked my tummy in nice and thin,
Until I made all four points, Great!
Determination is always sure to win,
