Night Magic

A dancing ocean licks the shore to taste
its poesy plays wet, the foaming tide
the moon anoints each crest to windward side
an opal’d magic, uttered, not in haste
lay long the night, lascivious, unchaste
peeled bare of light that dark has cast aside
temptation sings the flesh where we now bide
unlaced, undone, shy naked we are graced

sing now true heart, your lyrics pour as flame
to sultry skin, though moonlit, ever pale
a slow kiss pon a shore that holds no shame
a lovers cadence sings a lovers scale
white horses thunder in our mother's name
the sea she whispers wet her salty braille

I'm so sorry it took so long, Jess.
Typical me, I procrastinated until I got sick of myself for doing that..lol
but last night (in the wee small hours), it finally started coming to me

and I searched online to find examples of the form, and the ones I found were 10 syllables per line...which is was cool coz that's what I'm used to now..lol

*hugs*

Sash xx

Sash,

Those ten syllable lines are known
as iambic pentemeter.

The thing is that its more a count than syllables.

They are actually called feet.

If you read the words you can hear the beat
and when you get to ten then you are done.

I just love what you do with form poetry.

I will try to get mine in here tonight.

Jess, you got something going here hot stuff.

thanks,
andy

Andy, I'll be waiting for your entry....Sadly, I can't seem to get one out myself. Not even a little bit of a start, but then, the Muse ever did desert me. She likes to make me look bad!

I'm so impressed with what has been posted, and thanks so much for posting, y'all!

Love,
Jess
