I'm not sure if anyone ever checks this anymore, but Jon E.'s answer was correct. The problem with this riddle is that as it's been passed down the wording has gotten screwed up (the orginal word game was devised soemtime in the 70's). The orginal reads something like. "Thinks of three words that end in -gry. Angry is one, Hungry is another. There are three words in the English language. What is the third word? Everyone knows what it means an deveryone uses it everday. . ., etc." The whole -gry thing is just a red herring, the question, ultimately is, " . . . There are the words in 'THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE.' What is the third word? . . . " The third word in "The English Language" is LANGUAGE.
As for the person who referred to everyone as "reatrds" or however he spelled it, there are actually over a hundred words that end in -gry, though they are all outdated or arcane and do not answer the part of the riddle which says, "everyone uses it everyday." Such examples are: Anhungry, Begry, Bowgry, Cogry, Cottagry, Fenegry, Gonagry, Hangry, Iggry, Losengry, Magry, Menagry, Nangry, etc.
So, there you go. You don't have to believe me or listen to the answer because, as was eloquently pointed out earlier, I may be Reatrded.
