Hello and welcome to 'The Muse Mongers Motel' . So what can I tell you about myself? Well I am English and pushing 45 years of age. I began writing poetry in 1978/9 following a classroom success with a poem called ‘The Egg’, which won me a prize and resulted in my very first recital. It still proves to be a hit at recitals today, and I never tire of it. I found poetry easier than writing a huge bulk of words for essays. I became renown for my limericks and short verses, mostly scribbled onto old schoolbooks. I never took it seriously.

By my late teens I was getting known as the guy who could write a verse for the birthday card that Aunty was going to receive, and wrote of teenage angst as most do, in my personal pieces. I bought a guitar and wrote songs on my 17th birthday.

Once Married, I wrote for the kids as they grew and used a lot of my childhood memories to build the stories and songs we shared at bedtimes.

I sold my first poem in the late 1980’s and then decided to seriously make records my work, much already having been lost over the years, in house moves and the like.

I was a late starter with internet poetry, not getting into it until Sasha invited me to the old poetry castle, on the recommendation of my Dear friend Linda Barnard, who was an online friend of Sasha’s at that time. We formed a close and treasured bond, that has carried us through so much in life, and endures to this day. To be invited to join Muse Mongers was a treat, to be asked to join the Admin team a shock! LOL.
I am a very insular worker, and only post a small fraction of the 100 -150 poems per year that I write.( I call it my retirement fund). I published my first book of quirky poems from the 1998 collection called ‘Silly worm and other poetic tales’ last year and that is selling well. My next book is set to go to print in the new year, and there is also a very special one planned for later in 2008.As well as the long awaited CD……it has been two years in the making! LOL!
My latest web-site www.cottagepoet.me.uk is proving popular and is a general look at the life of my work. Please feel free to drop in anytime to catch up on the Paul Osborne gossip.

I have enjoyed a lifetime of being a radio presenter and use that skill today when doing recitals or working on stage, As I had the pleasure of doing with my good friend Mark (Darker side of light) Just recently when I compered at ‘The Poets Party’, an event organised by Mark which allows poets to come and read their work, whilst helping raise funds for charity. You can find out more at www.poetsparty.org.uk

In short, I make no brash claims about what I am as a poet, I will leave that for you all to decided. All I will say is this. To me poetry comes from the heart, and is the soul of the writer. Let your words flow to the page and mean it, you will not go far wrong. If you only ever please one person in your life….let it be you. I am always ready to help, so if you need a friendly shoulder just mail me.

Sincerely,

Peace and love,

Paul.

Lily,

What we have as friends is priceless and I love you dearly. However to suggest that I have 20 hearts is absurd, you would never hear me for the " Boom -titty -boom" of them beating. As for skipping to your loo? Guess I have given you the wits after all! LOL

Big Pom Hugs,

Pauly.

Anne-Marie,

The beauty of poetry is the friends I have made. I am constantly amazed that anyone thinks I have talent, but if I make you smile, I am a happy boy,

Peace and love,

Paul.

~ I met Paul's dear friend Linda through a mutual online friend....

we've been in touch, on and off, since 2001...Linda would give me poetry challenges to do, like the odd line, or theme, or a list of words to spark my muse (she's always been a stubborn one, my muse..lol).

Then one day she told me that a good friend of hers called Paul wrote poetry and she said he was good. I told her to tell him about Poetry Castle, and she said "you can if you want"...so she gave me his email addy and I invited him. We became fast friends, and very dear to one another...

Thank you Paulie, for taking me up on the invitation, back then....and when it was time to leave there, thank you for taking a stand for me, and joining us here. You are an awesome choice for admin here, my FF (forever friend)

I'm so glad you're here with us, hon...

love you

*warm hugs*

Sash xx
