Subject: Bx9

I just got off a Bx9 from 231st and Broadway heading toward West Farms and it was a typical morning commute. The tandem bus was packed full of people even at 231st. The route only begins at 262nd! By the time we got to 225th and Broadway there was no room for anybody, sitting or standing. So the driver tells us to move to the rear, make room, "make it more comfortable for yourselves". People couldn't get on the bus and people couldn't get off the bus!

People of New York City, we're paying MORE for this kind of abuse. Abuse is just what it is! The MTA is pulling money out of our pockets which is taking food off our tables and making bill paying more difficult. But they're DECREASING the service and blaming US for the inconveniences we have to suffer through on a regular basis!

I keep wondering why New Yorkers just let this happen and don't DO anything about it. I have some ideas, including boycots of mass transit and simply refusing to pay fares whenever possible. I've seen more than my share of people just getting on a bus, looking at the driver as if to say "I dare you to charge me." and sitting down for the ride. Maybe it's time more of us tried this. After all, with tandem busses packed to wellbeyond capacity, what exactly are the authorities going to do? Arrest a WHOLE bul full of people? I doubt it.
