A Voice Unheard

After the waters recede,
there is death to be witnessed;
he�s passed on and she�s gone.
Now they are without a voice.
Yet, they said it was coming,
ignoring fate relying on hope
and they would finally hear
the torrents rush over levies
constructed by men with guns
who are paid to witness death
in the past that is now gone.
But they said they were coming,
before the waters could recede
relying on fate, ignoring all hope
and they would finally hear
the torrents rush over levies
as they build there stock of guns
to fire upon those without a voice.
