Date Posted: 01/15/08 8:06pm In reply to: No Name 's message, "In a state with no prelims. I have to go at large!" on 11/29/07 9:51pm A guide to pageants for competitors in the Ms/Mrs. categories. Miss category information is included where the Miss Division allows contestants beyond the age of 25. I love pageants and want to help others find a pageant system that best fits them. We all should support all pageants and enjoy the personal improvement that come from a competitive and fun environment. Over $1500 for Entry Fee: Mrs. America Website: www.mrsamerica.com. Entry Fee: Need to win a state pageant; At-large is rare due to large number of state pageants Hotel Cost: Usually held at nice hotels, plan for $150 Length: Two Weeks (?); August September 2008 Location: Arizona (?) Competition Categories: Interview (facial beauty judged during interview), Gown, Swimsuit Overall Reputation: This is a very competitive pageant and it is extremely difficult to predict the top ten. Brains and accomplishments will help, but you need to be a fabulous stage contestant and have a warm and personable interview to really have a good chance of doing well. Ms. U.S. Globe Married, divorced, with children; over 26 if single Website: www.mrsglobe.com. Entry Fee: $2000 Hotel Cost: Included in Entry Fee when rooming with another delegate. Length: Ten Days August 23-31, 2008 Location: California Competition Categories: Personality Profile (45 seconds to speak about yourself), Swimsuit, Gown (preferential ballot system) Overall Reputation: They have their own platform. You can do other volunteer work as well. All contestants must follow strict rules. This pageant is well run and very glamorous. Read all the rules before applying. Entry Fee: $1800; Half Page Ad ($600); Full Page Ad ($1000 -optional); Makeup ($375 optional) Offers many state pageants - which offsets these costs. Hotel Cost: $99 Length: 5 days; Pageant July 18-19, 2008 Location: Chicago, IL Competition Categories: Interview (50%), Swimsuit (25%), Gown (25%) - Platform Required Overall Reputation: Heard nothing but good things from past competitors. The winner is invested in their platforms. This pageant is not for those that do not care to devote a great deal of time to a platform. Mrs. United States - married Website: www.mrsunitedstates.com. Entry Fee: $2300 (Entry + Ad Page) (?) Many state pageants offered, so few contestants pay for the at-large entry. Hotel Cost: approx $100 per night (possibly less) - cost for your family; contestant hotel is paid with entry fee. Length: 4-5 days (?); July 2007 Location: Las Vegas Competition Categories: Interview (34%), Gown (33%), Swimsuit (33%) Overall Reputation: My friends loved their experience. This pageant, like Mrs. America, is quite competitive. Ms. United States and Ms. Woman United States - single/divorced/with or without children Website: www.msunitedstatespageant.com.
