First Annual Poetry Contest


We are now accepting submissions for our first annual
Muse Mongers Motel Poetry Contest.

Awards:

First Place: $50.00
Poem Published in Ezine
Featured Poem in The Muse Mongers First "A Year in Poetry" Book
(to be published by the end of 2008)
Poetry submitted to numerous Ezines, Magazines, and Periodicals,
Poem Published in the Muse Mongers Lobby for an entire Year

Second Place: $30.00
Poetry submitted to numerous Ezines, Magazines, and Periodicals,
Featured Poem in The Muse Mongers First "A Year in Poetry" Book
(to be published by the end of 2008)
Poem Published in the Muse Mongers Lobby for an entire Year

Third Place: $20.00
Poetry submitted to numerous Ezines, Magazines, and Periodicals,
Featured Poem in The Muse Mongers First "A Year in Poetry" Book
(to be published by the end of 2008)
Poem Published in the Muse Mongers Lobby for an entire Year


Honorable Mention: Up to ten poems selected
(depending upon the amount of submittals received).
We will publish your poetry in our lobby
announcing it as an honorable mention
in our contest. We will also assist
you in seeking publication of your poem.



Waiver:
The Muse Mongers Motel (owned by Andy Spaschak and Sasha Walker) is an indepedent
not for profit organization who's sole intent is to promote the artistic creations of its
members and participants in its contests offered in and outside of the Motel's Membership.
The author of any poetry posted at the motel or submitted to MMM contests retains
the sole ownership rights to their poetry or art. It is our wish to promote the arts
while protecting the artist. All winners of contests have the right to restrict publication
of their poetry, in whole, or by selecting specific mediums for approval.

Guidelines:
Please submit up to three poems (by attachment) of any genre, format,
or length, to musemongersmotel@yahoo.com. The deadline for submissions is March
31, 2008. There is NO ENTRY FEE but, we do require that you submit poetry that
has not been previously published in any ezine, magazine, book, or periodical (one or
two message board publications are acceptable). Include this line in your subject
please: "Poetry submission for MMM's first Annual Poetry Contest." We also require
a brief statement announcing that you are the author of the submitted poems. The
email address used to send the submissions must be your primary email address
unless you seek a waiver to this rule from either Andy or Sasha. We will require that
the first, second, and third place winners allow their poems to be placed in the first
Muse Mongers "A Year in Poetry" book due to be published at the end of 2008.

Judging:
Poems will be judged by the Staff of the Muse Mongers Motel as well as a few selected
members and independent outside sources who may, or may not, be named.

Annnouncement of Winners and Delivery of Awards:
All legal tender will be paid
by insured US Mail in the form of a Money Order.
Any fees paid for winners poetry published in
magazines, periodicals, ezines, or books will
be paid directly to the author of the poetry.

All winners and honorable mention recipients
will receive a free copy of our first book.

Owners and Administrators of the Muse Mongers Motel
are not eligable to enter this contest. Any staff
member who wishes to participate will be excluded
from the judges list. If you would like to apply
to be considered for a judge in this contest please
send us an email stating your background (in regard
to poetry) including your telephone number, as well.
We are seeking to have up to twelve judges in order
to insure the winning poetry has broad appeal and
is awarded in the good faith of its intent.


You may also use this room for submissions.
Use individual posts for each poem please.
Replies and posts on this board cannot be
viewed by the public.

If you use this method for submission a receipt
will be sent to you via email to inform you
that your poems were recieved. Please allow
up to three days for completion of this process.
