There is a simple fix to this problem all you have to do is go threw all old contacts, and plastic around it, with rubbing alcohol on a Q TIP (ALSO COMPTUER ALCOHOL SPARY DEGREASER WILL WORK) and rub off old oil, dust etc. It does heat up and melt plastic. Also what builds up on oil is dust and rubber from the mono rail driver gears and rubber boats and driver wheels etc. This is what also builds up the heat and the friction that melts the palstic its from forigen matter as well. The heat of all of these problems and cemhical reaction is what is going on. Excess use of oil FROM THE FACTORY is to blame as well. They used this oil as sealer so they would not oxide, or cause bad contacts/moviable parts in the future. If you have seen the paper that used to be wrapped around these parts you might have seen the excess of oil on the paper around the parts. The machine oils used are so fine that they dissolve the plastic as well so watch for that too. Just remove it and watch it. THIS WORKS, This is an old trick I use on the trains, switches etc from the past.
