A spanking YES ... a beating NO. You don't have to brutalize someone's butt to make the lesson of a spanking reach home.
Bare butt, hand spankings can be a good lesson. Or using a light one-foot ruler or a ping-pong paddle ... just stroked enough to make it sting ... not to leave a permanent physical impression, just a mental impression.
For my daughter, now in HS, I still use the spanking punishment ... but only for very serious offenses ... curfew violations when I have already relaxed the curfew deadline, being home with their BF when I'm not here ... that is just not allowed. But the BF never knows I don't approve ... that is for my daughter to tell him.
Two weeks ago, I came home and my younger daughter (16) was making out with her BF on the couch ... I suggested they cool it, the BF was going to leave, but I said "no need for that>" and we had some refreshments around the kitchen table, talked about school, but never talked about what had been going on.
When he left, about q hour later we were all on good terms, smiling and laughing, telling jokes ... they said their good-byes on the front porch, and when my daughter got back into the ouse, she knew I was not happy.
We had a long, and much more serious talk, and I wasn't going to punish her, other than to warn her, until she sassed me ... I said "okay young lady, I guess it's time for a more serious addressing of this problem" and told her to undress, I got my wooden mixing spoon from the kitchen, told her to lay across my lap, she protested until I asked her if she wanted to lay across the kitchen table ... she went across my lap. I didn't beat her, but the stinging of the spoon left an impression. She cried, but I cuddled and hugged her when it was all over, we hugged and admitted she was wrong and it wouldn't happen again.
I trust her, but she's young .. it will happen again, somewhere.
