 You're right it's not easy but there have to be some blanket rules so that everybody gets the same treatment and knows what to expect for a misbehavior. Sometimes just a look will bring about the change, other times a talking to - discussion, other times a time out works or taking away a privilege and other times it's the good old fashioned over the knee pants downer with the hairbrush. Knowing your kids and what works when for them is part of it. Personally I don't like giving a spanking, but when I feel it's due it gets done.
