Many years ago, the broodmare had, in captivity, been foolishly placed under the supervision of humans, with two fierce race stallions at once.. In a panic at the looming, infuriated territorial stallions, she had bitten her own tongue off, now mute, deformed, and abandoned by any care or ownership she had once experienced..
