Jocelyn has brought up a really interesting point. Sending money and supplies to nations that weren't affected by communism would definitely promote democracy in the most peaceful (and effective) way possible. It would also decrease the communist influence that had been moving even further through Europe. I also like how she connected this idea to the Marshall Plan, considering that both possessed objectives of containing communism, and weakening its spread. In addition, whether it involves resisting communism or recovering from destruction, these ideas both helped any struggling nations become dependent on the United States.
