I agree that a larger initial force would have left the Viet Cong with little time to adjust its tactics. A slowed process of supporting South Vietnam worked against the U.S. strategically. I also like your point about morale. It is true that morale can have a huge impact on the way a war is fought, both on the front and at home. Perhaps had the U.S. gone into Vietnam with more vigor, troops would have seen greater support, and thus achieved more success.
