Richard Nixon was for the most part a good president, he did accomplish many things during a very shaky time in America. For instance he ended the Vietnam War, he also started peace talks with arch-enemies Russia and China. But because of this single incident, he is considered by many as a bad president. To me, this is not proof enough that Nixon is a bad president. Saying that former President Richard Nixon is a bad president because of the Watergate scandal is similar to saying that former President Andrew Jackson was a bad president for killing or relocating all the Native Americans East of the Mississippi River. Very few people view Andrew Jackson as a bad president for his actions because we all know that his actions had good reasoning behind it, more safe land for the American people during a very expansive time. So why is it that Nixon is called a bad president for his actions during the Watergate scandal? His actions had sound backing, Nixon was trying to protect the American people from the truth. The average person shouldn't be allowed to know all the inner workings of a government because what one doesn't know, can't hurt them.
