Hosea 8:7 For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk: the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up.
Galatians 6:7-8 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

You can take it to the bank. The above scriptures have proven themselves true over and over throughout the history of mankind. Mans actions being compared to the planting of seed. If a person plants corn, a bean is not going to sprout. Likewise, if you sow "wild oats" that is what will come up. Hosea 8:7 in allegorical fashion sets forth that Israel has sown the wind and the harvest will be a whirlwind. The context of Hosea is the warning of the prophet to Israel of the coming destruction of all they hold dear.

Israel turned from the true God and worshipped the gods of their own imagination and the whirlwind that sprang from their ill begotten seeds was a full blown F-5 tornado that brought down that nation as God said it would.

Early in this century America started planting seeds that would germinate into a movement that would destroy the moral fabric and Christian ethic that made this country the greatest the world has ever seen. The entertainment industry sprang to life in the form of the silent film or movie. People began to be introduced to a fantasy land of mostly fictional characters that in many cases became heroes to those who watched. The silent flicks gave way to the movies with speech and music and people were treated to action accompanied by music and sound effects that augmented the action on the screen. For the first several years the movies and story lines were moral and were tailored to pass strict censors that reviewed the films for unacceptable content. As Hollywood grew in power and money they started "pushing the envelope" to get by with as much as they could. More and more flesh was displayed and the action went from cowboys fighting Indians or rustlers to the barrooms and bordellos.

Patriotic war films with little sex and plenty of mostly bloodless war scenes gave way to graphic violence and graphic sex.

In the late fifties and early sixties the entertainment industry moved into the living room. Again the censors kept the language proper and men and women apart. As with the movies the standards were gradually relaxed as people wanted to see and hear more and more of the "wild oats" instead of the bland moral crop.

At least three full generations of people have grown up in this "field of entertainment", sitting in front of a television set and or movie screens, and the crop is now at full harvest. Sleep inducing gradualism (Matt. 13:25) has run it's course and the harvest has come. A great number of people's morals are shot, their maturity is almost non-existent and there is no knowledge of God in them. One of the most destructive fruits of this crop is "tolerance". We are now tolerant of almost any thing and everything. Our "One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all", is now a melting pot of ethnic groups without the common bond of a common faith.

Where we were once respected for our high morals and principles, we are now looked on with disgust and mistrust. In many cases our heroes are the drunken, promiscuous, drug filled starlets of "Hollyweird". Many of our youth have come up on "hard rock" and "acid rock". Add to the mix the filthy rap of the gutter culture and you have a tornado that is destroying the very fabric of our society. Men, women and children have watched the glamor, sex and violence of the entertainment industry until they have become educated to the belief that this is the normal way to live. It may have become the norm, but it certainly is not the way God would have us to live.

We have gone from a nation that valued life and Christian principles to the murder capitol of the world, and most of the murder taking place is on unborn babies as a means of birth control. In the public schools across our land the Bible is out, prayer is out and condoms, sex-ed and diversity training is in.

From the time a child reaches it's first stages of understanding, it is subjected to an endless stream of politically correct cartoons, politically correct children's shows and material "goodies" until it has developed a totally unbiblical world view. Rare indeed is the child who is brought "up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord."(Eph.6:4)

By the time the adolescent reaches early adulthood the effect is clear. There are no taboos any more. What was once shameful and never talked about is openly discussed in a normal fashion. Foul four letter words are uttered regularly by boys and girls alike.

Obscene jokes, pictures and gestures are everyday life to the modern teen today. Virginity is no longer cherished but just the opposite is true with a large segment of our young people.

Teen pregnancies are so common place that no one is shocked by it anymore and daycare rooms are set up in the schools for the child-mothers. Thousands of pregnancies are terminated every year in abortion clinics throughout our land in what I call "murder mills". Many teenage boys today think nothing of getting a girl pregnant without accepting any responsibility at all.

Thousands of young girls are becoming mothers out of wedlock without the foggiest idea of what they are getting into or what affects their actions will have on the life they are bringing into the world. All of this is taking place with the protection of a federal government gone crazy

. A large percentage of our lawmakers are living the same way, so they think nothing about the rest of the world following their example.

As I write this we live under a government that has legalized abortion on demand as a means of birth control and granted unbelievable rights to murderers, rapists, muggers, robbers, sex perverts and minorities of every kind imaginable.

This government "of the people, by the people and for the people" has taken prayer out of school and placed condoms in; taken the teaching of creation out of the schools and allowed (and promoted) the teaching of the Darwinian theory of evolution, sex education and political correctness. What's more incredible is that this has been done mainly without the consent of the majority of the people.

We are seeing the result of the most blessed nation on the earth turning it's back on God. We are reaping what we have sown as a nation. As a nation we have sown the wind and we are reaping the whirlwind. In the last few years we have seen disaster after disaster.

Devastating storms, floods, fires, earthquakes and drought have ravaged large sections of our nation. As we have permitted ourselves to become a nation of sex obsessed pleasure seekers, God has rewarded us with the pestilence of AIDS. As we have turned against God's instructions on the punishing of criminals we see crime run rampant

. It has reached the point that no one is safe anymore. Our government's answer is to try to remove our means of self defense by dis-arming the population.

When we set aside the word and wisdom of God for the word and wisdom of man we started our plunge to destruction as a nation. When we listened to the philosophers, psychologists and the freethinkers of the world and turned from the pure word of God we sealed our doom.

The crop is in. If we don't, in the very near future, turn back to God with our heart, mind, soul and strength, as a nation, we have had it. Psalm 9:15-17 says: "The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken. The LORD is known bythe judgment which he executeth: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah. The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

My own personal belief as to why God is still merciful to this nation is because (1) He is long suffering . 2 Peter 3:9-10 (vs.9) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (vs.10)

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.(2) Because there are still "more than ten in the city". Genesis 18:32 And he(Abraham) said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once:Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he (God) said, I will not destroy itfor ten's sake.

The nation of America still stands today because there is still a host of God's people in it. All across this land are a people that still hold to the "nail scarred hand of Jesus Christ". There is still a remnant that hold to and believe the word of God. There are still, in this blessed land of ours, a people that pray to a living God every day. We not only pray to our God and Savior but believe that he takes an active part in our every day lives. We believe that He answers prayer and will take care of His children. There are those of us that look to Him as our provider, protector and physician. We, as His children, pray earnestly that He will turn this nation around and set it back on the path that it was established on; namely, the Word of God. There is within this land, that God has graciously given to us, a people that still praise His holy name. We praise Him in word and song. We love Him and long for Him. There is within this nation a people that love Him more than life itself and if ever put to the test will prove this statement to be fact,

just as the martyrs of old stood for the One that they loved and cherished more than life itself. Yes there is still a group "that soweth to the Spirit" (and) "shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting".

That is what is holding this nation together today. God is honoring and being merciful to His children, and is being longsuffering to those to whom He still is holding out that nail scarred hand. Let us be admonished by the Word of God through the pen of Hosea one more time:

Hosea 10:12-14 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

13 Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.

14Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Betharbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces upon her children.

The choice is, as it always has been,'' ours.''
