My doughter had cystoscopy. The exam took place in North America and Xian China, 12 years old., Year 2011. She had cystoscopy in the doctor's or nurse's office at school.

All children in the area has a mandatory cystoscopy before beginning school. All prepuberty children in the area has a mandatory cystoscopy. All teens in the area has a mandatory cystoscopy as a part of the puberty assessment. Certain age groups of adults are given a offer for cystoscopy as a standard screening.

PREPARATIONS

Got an accurate explanation of what should be done and the reason. Naked by a female nurse. Given laxatives at home before the exam. God lubricating and pain-killing fluid inserted in through the pee-hole.

THE PROCEDYRES AS REMEMBERED

They put a flexible snake-like cystoscope in through the urethra. They pumped up and irrigated bladder with water when looking inside. They inspected anus with a scope They inspected with a scope some way up into the colon - sigmoidoscopy. They inspected the whole colon - full colonoscopy.

ARRANGEMEBTS ADTER THE EXAM

Had catheter in the bladder some time after the exam. Got medicines into urethra with a syringe after the exam.

DOLLOW-UPS

Got mediaction for infection. Had to have catheter in the bladder during night.

It was useful. It was not any big deal.

COMMENTS

Certain communities in the world subject all children to a mandatory cystosocpy, often with additional assessments of the anus, rectum and colon, at specific age levels, and the same with adults.

With modern euipment these exams are easy, and can easily be performed without general anesthesia, even though general anesthesia or deep sedation, often is used by these ordeals.

These assessments seem to be useful, because often problems that can cause serious consequemces later, are discovered.
