School-aged boy, North America, genital exam with foreskin focus

I was a school-aged boy in the period 1980es some place ein North America. My mother took me to a health center and stayed with me when a pediatrician examined me in an exam room. I had no idea why I was there.

They let me lie on my back and made me naked at the genital and rectal zone, but let me have clothes on elsewhere.

First they asked it was OK for mom to stay. I didn't know why I was there so I wanted her to stay. Then got me on the exam bed, had me lay down and placed a sheet over my waist. They asked me to lower my pants and underwear. I naively lowed them to just above my penis. Dr checked under sheet. She informed me to lower them to my knees. I was immediately embarrassed.

She fondled my penis while mom watched. Retracting and stretching foreskin multiple time. Also spread my urinary opening and palpated my testicles . Eventually I got dressed and left. Still no idea why this was done.

What is your opinion about this experience? Would have been fine with consent. As is, I still feel it was sexual assault.

The exam did not result in any diagnosis.


COMMENTS

This is bacically a normal genital exam at this age which is often a part of a yearly physical exam. Perhaps the pediatrician`s routine did not include such an exam, and the mother ordered it as a separat exam because she felt it missed.

The way the exam was conducted points to a concern for a too narrow foreskin and this was checked especially well.

The mother and doctor should have informed the boy before the exam. Perhaps also the doctor made more manipulations than necessary for own gratification.
