Boy, 14yo, North Am, tonsillectomy combined with cystoscopy

I am male. As early teen 13-16 . The procedure happened in North America, in the period 2000-2009. I had a tonsillectomy.


PREPARTIONS

I was given sedative medicines through my mouth, I was given medication intravenously. They gave me gas through a mask. I had a mask put on my mouth and nose. they also put an iv in my arm.

I had to get my tonsils out. My mother brought me in. I was 14 at the time when it happened in what was called the boys surgery center.

When I arrived i was taken into a room where i had to change into a gown. Yhen i was weighed and measured and had my heart and lungs examined. When it was time for the surgery I was given a cap to put on over my hair, and a pair of socks to put on, and was taken into what looked like a dentist exam room, but with a brighter light overhead. There was also some machines that i was hooked up to that monitored my heart and breathing, and then I had a mask put on, and an iv inserted, but i don't remember what it was, i think they said it was something called saline.

SYMPTOMS AND OBSERVATIONS

Afterwards I had pain, irritation or other problems in my respiratory tract or lungs. My underwear was messed up or other signs that I had been stripped naked at my lower body. The school health service was more than usually interested in me around the time of the procedure, and asking questions or doing exams that did not seem to be related to the procedure. I heard someone saying to my mom that they did a bladder exam as well as the tonsillectomy.

ARRANGEMENTS AFTER THE PROCEDURE

when I woke up, my underwear was around my ankles and I had a tube in my penis, it was connected to a bag and i wasn't allowed to leave until i filled the bag. I had a mask, heart monitor and something that measured my breathing. They checked that i had peed enough and that my heart and breathing was ok. I was asleep the whole time


COMMENTS

This seemed to be a normal tonsillectomy in the first place, but it was combined with a pelvic exam including a cystoscopy. They usually also perform examinations of the genital, rectum and parts of colon during these exams, so that was probably also one.
