The Cheetahs defeated the International Baseball Academy today by a score of 9-1. Centerfielder Nick Gontmaher went 4 for 6 including a first inning leadoff home run and two stolen bases. Starting and winning pitcher James Clelland struck out 7 in 5 innings, with relief help from Luis Reyes, Kris Regas and Joe Catomer to finish the game.

The team looked very aggressive on the bases.. hopefully the start of things to come!

I agree, the team looked great today. Its good to see the runners rounding third to make it home, instead being held up at third base. I think we've got a great team this year.

Let me also add the field looks "Wonderful". The new groundskeeper is doing a GREAT job. I've never seen it look so good!!

I agree; the CHEETAHS did look agressive during Sunday's exhibition. How about this guy Reyes out of the bullpen! Tuesday they will have some better competition vs their rivals from Rockford.

The RiverHawks and the Cheetahs played some good games last year, both in Rockford and Crestwood. Let's hope the Cheetahs can win the exhibition doubleheader, Manager Moore can get everybody some playing time (un-injured, of course!) and the CHEETAHS can take some momentum & confidence into Friday Night's regular sesaon opener against Rockford.

Fans, you have to get out and see this team play and support them this season. This guy they got playing first base, Kevin Brown, is the real deal! Let's hope the minor left leg injury he incured Sunday doesn't hold him back at the start of the season.

It's going to be a real good season. There's a whole new attitude with this CHEETAH team and it's coming from their new Manager Mike Moore. Best of luck, skip! Remember that jersey at the end of the year!!

New Groundsman, Mike; Super job on the field! Keep up the outstanding work!! See everyone Tuesday Night for the doubleheader sweep!

I would like to get in touch with Nick Gontmayer to say G'day. I played baseball with Nick when he was out in Australia in our summer. It's good to see he's off to a good start to the season. Can you pass on my email address please.
