Everyone is badmouthing the previous owners and setting their hopes high for the new owners, and honestly, your comments are fair to anyone.

Advertising costs in the Chicago-area are outrageous. It costs a ton to advertise in this market, which is probably why the old owners didn't do it as much, and why the new owners won't either.

Yes attendance has been on the decline, but if you have ever been to Hawkinson Ford Field, you would know why. The baseball game on the field is always good (sometimes even great), but the stadium is in need of updating. It is small, full of bad sightlines and just plain ugly in many regards.

Everyone seems to think new owners will do the trick, but if you have been around sports long enough, you know that it just isn't the case.

With that said, best of luck to the new group. You're going to need it.

(Also, does anyone else find it interesting that the mayor's son is in on the team? Maybe the new team name can be the Cook County Conflicts of Interests).

DON'T CHANGE THE CHEETAHS NAME AT ALL!!! I'm guessing the Mayor's son is involved because he may have been a crucial piece of the puzzle, during negotiations, to get the sale of the CHEETAHS completed to this local group of investors. He may also be on board as a person to run this team as a business (seeing he's a business man himself) and NOT as a "hobby" as the Mayor himself put it regarding past ownership. Time will tell on what role the Mayor's son plays to support your "conflict of interest theory". But I think it's a wise choice including him.

I think this could be the breath of fresh air this outfit has needed for a while. It's hard not to speak poorly of former ownership when it was clear as day that they were not putting the amount of work and/or money into the team that was necessary to provide a top notch product. Personally I don't lay any of the blame on the team's administration. I mean when you can't enough dough to hire a groundskeeper, and supplies seem always to be short....who else can be held accountable?
Perhaps the mayor's son being a part owner is a conflict of interest somewhere along the line )although I can't imagine that there is any restraint of trade involved, or that a Crestwood/Cheetahs "machine" is going to be built). But that will also serve those same owners to want to get people to Crestwood to spend their money on a regular basis. And how do you do that? You give them an attractive product. And how do you accomplish that? Time, effort and money. And what do you get as a result? Well, if you do it write, a better product on and off the field. I am not sure that anyone loses in that deal.

yes it may be a conflict of interest, but it could be the best thing that happened to the organization. the mayor had constent problems with arch and heeman not advertising the team and bringing money into crestwood. if i was a betting man i would have tothe new ownership and mayor will do everything they can to get people into hawkinson ford. a percent of the ticket sales are kicked back to the village of crestwood which the mayor wants and the mayors son and new ownership need to make a profit. i think it is a win-win situation. improvements to the stadium, more advertsing and more social appearances by coaches and players are needed to make this thing happen. im sure the new breeds will go all out to make crestwood what it should be, a top notch baseball community.
