Way i feel, anyone can charge what they want for their pups. Hell, muts go for $2000. Its up to the breeders discression as to what they feel the dogs are worth, and the buyers as to what they want to pay. I feel $1000 is a fair price for dogs that have been tested, proven and worth. Hell I'da paid more!
I gave away and lost more money than anything on my litters. I want to charge $1000 or more, I will... When you figure up costs of temp testing, training, health tests, hip, eyes, ears, cardiac, pulminary, brucellosis, skin tests, shows, food.... it adds up. Hell then you've got the breeding, culture and sensitivities, brood bitch check, dog check, ai fee's, suppliments, health checks throughtout gestaion, preg tests, ultrasounds.... then whelping assistance and litter checks... It adds up. IMO a good breeder should be able to at least break even on their litter. I have yet to do so. But I'm pleased with what i've produced thus far.
