The first phase of competition was fitness. Sydney did really well. I felt she did a much better job on her 'routine' than she did prelim night, so that was a good thing!
It was still obvious that the dancers stood out in this phase due to the 'routine' they were required to do.
---
EG/OSQ was next.
The phase began with all the contestants coming out in their gowns for a 'parade' with the princesses.
Our princesses were adorable and of course shined!! :)
Competition--
Sydney looked amazing again!
The judges actually asked the questions this time.
The contestants drew a judges' # and then that judge asked the question.
Sydney drew the judge that was a past state titleholder (the one that said shew as tied for 2nd runner up at Miss America), sorry I've forgotten her name already!
Anyway, the judge first asked Syd if she was ready, which Syd replied 'yes ma'am'... thank you God for Southern manners! :)
She was asked what she hoped her peers could learn from her. This was a perfect question for Syd b/c she was able to talk about her platform Be Better Not Bitter, Overcoming Adversity. She talked about the fact she had had alot of personal tragedy in her life and she hoped by sharing her testimony with teens, they could learn that it is possible to overcome.
She said it with more details and better than I'm delivering it here, but trust me, it was good! :)
OK had a much better OSQ answer than she had in prelims, so I was a little worried about her being major competition in finals. I still love her gown too!
ARK was about the same as her prelim (really good) and of course i loved her gown and SC was really really great again (remember, my recap of SC answer from prelims was that she knocked it out of the ball park with her answer about giving respect to our President even if we don't agree with his decisions) SC obviously has a great interview b/c she was spot on both times in her OSQ. She's very likeable! And her gown is pretty, doesn't stand out for me, but pretty
PA had a really good answer for finals.
She was short and sweet, but it was enough and it was great! She had a definite glow about her. I felt she modeled incredibly too fast, but her OSQ was good. Her gown was pretty, not my favorite b/c it was just a gown to me, nothing special, but it was pretty.
----
to be continued... i'm long winded! :)
