--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How much did Brittany Chen - Miss Taiwan pay to be First Runner Up? It was obvious that she was given the last question ahead of time. Her answer was so well rehearsed!

Hello everyone! :)
I have just spent the last 30 minutes reading every single message posted on this page, and I must say that it is EXTREMELY devastating to conclude a pageant's long journey with such angry and bitter emotions :( I would have hated to be Miss Korea that night seeing as how the audience fell silent upon the announcement of her number as the winner for the title. I do wish that the official score sheets would be released so as to appease (at least somewhat) many people's unsettled hearts on the matter. However, I'm sure we all know that this will not happen.

I actually had a few matters that I wanted to address:

1) To "MM" who posted a comment asking how much I, Miss Taiwan, paid for the Top Five Question beforehand, I must tell you very honestly that you are completely mistaken. I don't know if you were a delegate, if you are a delegate's parent, or if you are a mere observer, but ask for a copy of the 22 questions that all delegates were given beforehand, and you will see that the Top Five question was EXTREMELY similar to the question that Miss Vietnam was asked in Top Ten, the question about whether or not she would wear a bathing suit if her culture did not permit her to do so. I prepared for THAT question (the one about the swimsuit) and it does NOT take a genius to modify one answer to make it fit another question. Why on earth would I PAY SOMEONE for the Top Five Question? However, I must thank you for saying that my answer sounded well-rehearsed. It was not, but I suppose that is a good thing.

2) I must say, I myself was INCREDIBLY shocked when Miss China Louise Wu did not make Top Five. She was undoubtedly a favorite in many eyes and when Miss Korea Diane Yoo rounded out the Top Five I glanced to my right and saw Louise walking off stage and I was ataken by complete disbelief. She was very beautiful. However, looking through the program book, it seems that she only bought two ads. I honestly have no idea if this had any effect on not making the Top Five, but it was just an observation.

3) I cannot hold any personal grudges against Miss Korea Diane Yoo because she had always been very kind to me since the very beginning. However, I do understand why most, if not all, of the delegates were infuriated at her win. (This bullet point if more for the observers to this site who may not know what went on behind the stage curtains) Miss Korea arrived at the hotel late on the day of the National Costume competition and thus she missed her turn and they had to put her at the end of the line. I suppose that in a scenario like this when a delegate is late and misses their competition time, they should either have a significant number of points deducted or they must be disqualified altogether. She, however, ended up winning the category. There are certainly other reasons why she was not one of the - for lack of a better word - most well-liked delegates but I feel bad for continuing on as she never did anything to harm me so I must stop myself here.

Well, at this point, I'm quite curious as to what you all would have felt if they had called #26 as runner-up instead of #18. I hope you all would have been much more approving. However, I guess we shall never know.

Sincerely,
Brittany Chen
Miss Taiwan

I was shocked when Louise Wu did not make Top 5! How could she not? Her Naitonal Costume was one that is being worn in the Opening Ceremonies at the Olympics. She has the best SWIMSUIT FIGURE on stage! Toned, no fat and no cellulite! Her walk was wonderful as well as her poise! Her EVENING GOWN was a Vera Wang (beautiful) and her on-stage answer to the question showed that she was intelligent with a lot of personality! She has a lot of pageant experience including being Miss Asian America where she beat out 40 other contestants. It did not look like she was having an OFF night. So what happened? I looked at the program book and it is true that there were only two ads from her but I did not think the pageant was based on this. The competition was based on National Costume, Evening Gown, Swimsuit, Interview and On-Stage Question & Answer. It was announced by the emcee that there was going to be a 12 judge whom was named Virgelia. Pageant producer, owner and director! She was going to have the last say as to the TOP 5! Could it be because it would have been obvious that she was the winner of the pageant and Virgelia did not want her to win. So better to take her out of top 5! BIG MISTAKE VIRGELIA!

Brittany,

You have a lot of class. You act very mature and I find it hard to believe that you are only 17 years old. I am sure that you will be successful in any future pageants you decide to do.

You would have made a wonderful queen.

Wish you all the best.

Hello Miss Taiwan,

You were a true queen that night. You deserve the crown not Miss Korea (Diane Yoo). I totally agree with you about the day of the interview with the judges. She should have been disqualifield period!!! I was there at noon until the interview ended as I recalled I didn't even see Miss Korea (Daine Yoo) dress in her national costume. Most of the time I saw her in the women's restroom with 2 guys in there with her. She got special treatment alright! All the deligates were down in the basement and she did not once step down there. As a matter of fact all the deligates was suppose to be there no later than noon otherwise according to Miss Evelyn/Virgelia they will be send home. I guess it all comes down to this....Miss Korea or her parents bought her the crown, she didn't earn it and it is really sad.
