Date Posted: 17:46:33 03/12/09 Thu Hi Guys, sorry for breaking my vow.......my promise to keep in touch with you and to give you my suppport. I realized that I have deserted you a bit. I must confess that I have been procrastinating for months now to add a line to this forum. My spirit was willing but my flesh was weak. My muscles have been feeling so rusty each day I promised to write my body felt more tired than the day before. Anyway, I was on jury duty for 2 weeks. Yeah, the type of duty that you must perform whether you like it or not. I must say though that my body feels rejuvenated because I was able to get some night sleep so I thought I should write now before i start to feel rusty again. It was a good experience. I recognized how important it is to plead on behalf of a fellow citizen. The decision that we make as jurors is very critical in dtermining the fate of a defendant. Therefore, I urge you to sit as a juror if you ever have an opportunity to do so. Anyway, I must commend Melanie for keeping up with the forum. For me, I was always feeling guilty but Doug you made me feel even more guilty when you said " I think we lost Eric and Sheila..........wish them luck". I really laughed out loud because the truth is I had been wondering whether my fellow alumni would consider me as a lost case. But guys, I have read your comments and I see that some of you are frustrated. The fact is, some of the situations that we are experiencing at SVCMC is just enough to make one feel this way. For example, working with equipments that are malfunctioning.......BP machines, a crucial piece of equipment that is necessary in providing quality care may not be reliable. In some cases the BP machine has to be inflated about 4 times before you get a reading. yet, in other instances the result may be significantly different by a very large margin if taken consecutively just minutes apart. This is scary. How do you know for certain if someone is hypo or hypertensive and what remedial action would be more appropriate. (2) Staffing shortage and the inability to provide quality care efficiently and effectively for a an assigned group of patients....sometimes this can be as many as 10 or 11 patients (3) Pharmacy deficiency in dispensing prescribed medications at a reasonable time......You can spend hours on the phone trying to obtain missing meds (4)Lack of support from other staff members. I am quite aware of how the new graduates are treated because the actions are very vivid. So I share the same sentiments with you guys. I understand your frustration and even though you try to addresss those issues any attempt becomes absolutly fruitless as long as senior staff just take it ias it comes. In order for change to take place you must have a collaborative effort. At svcmc there is no such thing therefore, change is not going to hppen any time soon. So guys what you have to do is to take one day at a time and just do like the Romans do. Goodbye now and Doug I am not lost yet I just think that all my energy has been sucked out form this night tour . And yes, i know that I owe you an e-mail. I will work on it. Good night everyone rest easy, Sheila. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
