Subject: some movie news that may be intresting to all of you.....

Apparently there are two scripts currently being developed separately on the lot. One is a BATMAN YEAR ONE project... one that they are seriously considering Ben Affleck for. Meanwhile the second screenplay is to be about BATMAN BEYOND... and this is the project that Keanu Reeves was talking about, believe it or not. As Warner sees it, after MATRIX 2 & 3, they'll have quite a bit invested in Keanu as a star... and they figure that the dynamics of BATMAN BEYOND will match with Keanu's brand and style. This film is in the script stage as a project that may very well move forward AFTER MATRIX 2 & 3 have completed shooting.

Ghostbusters 3: Progress is happening, however slowly on the third "Ghostbusters" movie. Talking at a recent press conference at the 72nd Shennandoah Apple Blossom Festival, Dan Aykroyd revealed he has just completed a first draft of the script which brings in "the next generation" of spook catchers. He, Harold Ramis and Ivan Reitman are now working with Sony on the next step (most likely financing) to get the movies made. Click here to see a short MOV clip of the event, courtesy of Ghostbusters HQ.

Hannibal: The first attempt at a script adaption of the "Silence of the Lambs" novel sequel is in and the verdict differs from whichever perspective you hear it from. The New York Daily News reported that David Mamet's draft has been dumped by Universal execs who are now going with writer Steve Zaillian ("Schindler's List", "Clear and Present Danger") to come up with a whole new script. Zallian is keeping busy it seems, the scribe just finishing a re-write of Akiva Goldsman's script for Tom Clancy's "The Sum of All Fears". The official reason for the "Hannibal" writer swap given by Universal is that Mamet wasn't going to be available to work on the project day-to-day as he's shooting his own film "State of Maine" at the moment. On the more unsubstantiated gossip side, allegedly there are copies floating around which include a not so pleasant four-letter word scribbled on the front - no not THAT one or THAT one, the other one.

Indiana Jones IV: Harrison Ford was in Italy over the weekend promoting his new film "Random Hearts", and the foreign press as always sideswipes the usual "love working with them" PR drizzle and cuts straight to the burning thought on everyone's mind, when is he doing another Indy film? Talking with Channel RAI1, he said he'd like to come back as Indy "if I had a good script as in past". He also said "I'd like to work again with Steven Spielberg", but apparently in a tone indicating that if he were to do another Indy film then Spielberg would have to be at the helm again

MAD MAX 4; It's no secret that Max creator and director George Miller has been working on this project for sometime, collaborating with art designer Brendan McCarthy on the picture's storyline. Up to now details on that enigmatic plot have been precisely zero - but not anymore! As it was told to us by 'The Shape', the present storyline for Mad Max 4 will see a new Max roaming the great wastes...two hundred years after the events of Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome! That means that Miller is definitely favoring on showing us a new Max to take over the legendary road warrior Mel Gibson created two decades ago. But instead of the precious juice (that being gasoline) being the most prized commodity in this society we're told it's going to be pure human bloodlines. Our man theorizes that Miller might be expanding on how widespread the great war that was hinted at in the first three Max films really was, and that the long term effects of radiation fallout may have had horrible consequences for the survivors' descendants. It was also revealed to us that this new Max is charged with escorting a band of "purebreds" from point A to point B. We weren't told what, or whom, might be standing in the way of the new Max this time...but we're left imagining what may be on the roads between packets of civilization two centuries in the future after seeing Humongous or the inhabitants of Bartertown in the past movies. One final piece of the puzzle was also granted to us: Miller's current thinking is to make use of the mesas and plateaus in the <*gasp!> - Grand Canyon! Does that mean the film might shoot in the more dustier parts of the United States but that it'll still be set in Australia, or is Miller thinking of making the new Max a Yankee this time?? Well, it seems our informant's transmission has led to more unanswered questions. And although none of this has been stated publically by anyone working on MM4, and things might change in the constantly-evolving project, we have every bit of confidence in our scooper. In the past their scoops have been accurate and we know they have the connections to learn this stuff before anyone else, so we're pretty sure someone left the door to Miller's office open late one night...
