Fred Taylor - Jac
Taylor played for the first time in a month Monday night, and looked
impressive. He gained 74 yards in just eight carries.
STATS Says: Taylor came off the bench Monday after running back starter
James Stewart left the game with an ankle sprain. Taylor should start
next week. (OP)

Cris Carter - Min
Carter tore ligaments in his right ankle in Sunday's 31-28 loss to
Kansas City.
STATS Says: Carter may be out one to three weeks. A similar injury kept
Chicago wide receiver Curtis Conway out five weeks. Although Carter has
been known to come back early from injuries. (OP)

Charlie Batch - Det
Batch's injured thumb has been rediagnosed as a broken thumb. Batch
injured his thumb November 7 when his throwing hand hit an opposing
player's helmet.
STATS Says: Batch can throw without pain, but he has problems handling
snaps. (OP)

Steve Beuerlein - Car
Beuerlein had a passing rating of 108.0 in November. He's following that
great mark with a solid 91.3 in December. Beuerlein's final three games
are against San Francisco, Pittsburgh and New Orleans.
STATS Says: Those three games are quite winnable for Carolina. The
Panthers are currently 6-7, and they could sneak into the playoffs with a
9-7 mark. Much will depend on Beuerlein, though. (OP)

Stewart left Monday's game with a left ankle sprain. He was fitted with
a plastic boot. Stewart's injury forced the Jaguars to use injured
starting running back Fred Taylor, who shined in Stewart's absense.
STATS Says: Stewart may have lost the starting job to Taylor for the rest
of the season. (OP)

Carruth's girlfriend passed away Tuesday afternoon. Carruth has been
being held in conjunction with her shooting and will now be charged with
murder.
STATS Says: The Carolina wide receiver's future does not look promising.

Dillon rushed today for 192 yards and three touchdowns against Cleveland
today. The yardage was the most for Dillon since he gained 246 yards vs.

on December 19 1993. Beuerlein passed for 375 yards against the Rams on
