I hate that everyone's deciding how much they aren't going to like this style of play before we even put down ice.
You have to remember, if you saw Training Camp, that these will just be the guys who didn't get chosen there. They weren't BAD players. They just weren't right for the ECHL. And, honestly, I thought a couple of the guys we let go at that stage were better than some of the guys we had the previous season.
Not to mention that we're not going to be this weak team in some better league. All the teams we play against will be the same...level of play. In the same league, figuratively and literally.
Walby's going to have to really prove to a lot of us that he's...learned from his last two years here, but I'm hoping that the exclusion of union players in this league will let him be a little harder on them. Skate them until they're puking at center ice. (Miracle is a favourite movie of mine.) I think he's going to have a really good season. I'm hopeful...not just about him but about the whole package.
This is a really good move. And honestly, I'd be okay with negative A hockey, if they still play it on ice with sticks, you know?
