Subject: September Info for WHS63 Reunion

THE WHS 50TH REUNION

is fast approaching. Here is all the pertinent information you need. There is still time to sign up for all events.

The reunion will be held at the:

Doubletree Hotel Boston/Westborough
5400 Computer Drive
Westborough, MA 01581

An informal reception will take place Friday night, September 27, 2013 starting around 6:00 at the Doubletree Lounge. The bus tour is Saturday, the 28th from 1:00 - 3:00, leaving from the Doubletree and includes a tour of "our" high school on Fisher St. That Saturday evening at 5:00 pm, cheese, crackers, veggies, and snacks will be available at the Doubletree. The main event starts at 7:00 in the ballroom.

Let us know if you have any food allergies. DoubleTree can accommodate most requests if they know ahead of time. Contact Karen Toney at kaaato@comcast.net

Most people will dress in "business casual." Basically, for guys, shoes, socks, long pants, shirts with a collar. For girls, something your mother would approve of. Nobody will be turned away, even if you are wearing a tux or a ball gown.

Please bring any WHS memorabilia you might have to the reunion. Pictures, clippings, anything of interest. You might not feel "historical" but if you are cleaning out your closets and want to downsize, we will put together a package of material related to our class and offer it to the Westborough Historical Society. To a teenager, 50 years ago is ancient history. OMG! U mathed with NO calcs! ROFL :-0

At the present, we are expecting 79 people to attend of which 46 are our classmates. We feel this is a pretty good percentage for our class and we are still hoping to have a few more that are on the fence. If you know of anyone still not sure about coming, please convince them we are doing our best to make this a fun and memorable 50th reunion.

The cost of the reunion in its entirety is $15.00 per classmate and $85.00 per guest. If you have submitted your $60.00 deposit and you are bringing a guest, you will owe us an additional $40.00 which you may submit to:

Gordon Rowe, 35 Hollywood Drive, N. Grafton, MA 01536.
Make the check payable to: WHS 63 Reunion
On the "Notes:" section of the check, please indicate if the money is for: 1) reunion balance; 2) bus tour; 3) reunion balance & bus tour.

Please email Gordon at gtkrowe@aol.com with any financial questions.

If you are a classmate coming alone and have paid your $60.00 deposit, then through a considerably generous donation towards your meal, we will owe you $45.00. If you have a need to have this monies returned, let us know the night of the reunion. However, we hope the monies already submitted by you will go to the scholarship fund set up for a worthy WHS student (class of 2014) from the class of 1963.

Starting with Friday night, for all those available whether staying at the hotel or nearby, many of us will be in the bar at the Doubletree from 6:00 on and hope you will join us for a coke, coffee or a cocktail. Nothing formal, just an opportunity to say “Hi”!

You are welcome to join those staying at the Doubletree for breakfast both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Breakfast is included for those staying at the hotel and available to visitors at a reasonable price.

If you need to make a reservation at the DoubleTree, we will try (no promises) to get you the special rate of $99 a night. Contact Karen Toney at kaaato@comcast.net

Also, we wanted to note that the interest in the football game and the golf outing was too low to justify making a reunion “event”. However, if you want to arrange something on your own or with friends, the phone number for the Westborough Country Club is 508-366-9947. We will post a football game schedule as soon as we are able to obtain one.

We are still planning on the town/school tour (our high school on Fisher St.) on Saturday afternoon from 1:00-3:00. For all those interested, it is a cost of $20.00 each which includes the driver’s tip. We have a 29 passenger bus and had about 20 folks sign up for it on the original survey. We hope to spark more interest as time gets closer. The school tour portion will be about an hour and will be led by a current teacher related to one of our classmates.

The cost of the tour will be $20 per person. The first 29 people who send in their money to Gordon Rowe will be on the bus. Send your check to:

Gordon Rowe, 35 Hollywood Drive, N. Grafton, MA 01536
Make the check payable to: WHS 63 Reunion
On the "Notes:" section of the check, please indicate if the money is for: 1) reunion balance; 2) bus tour; 3) reunion balance & bus tour.

as soon as possible. As of September 6, seats were still available.

Saturday evening’s festivities start at 5:00 PM with a reception in the hall just outside our “ballroom” where the official reunion proceedings will begin at 7:00. There will be cheese, crackers, fruits, veggies and dips provided for you to nibble on before your main meal and a cash bar set up with bartender. The meal will be a buffet with a choice of beef, chick, fish, and healthy veggies. You meal cost includes all tips and taxes. The bartender, however, hopes you will show appreciation for his skills with some folding money.

If you have any additional ideas for reunion related projects that you are willing to lead and be responsible for, let Judi Grey know. It is YOUR reunion and the more people who contribute, the more fun it will be.

We all look forward to seeing so many of our friends return to “our” town and the reunion. If you have any further questions, please let anyone on your reunion committee know and we will try to respond quickly!

See you in September!!!
