Nine contestants will vie for the 2009 Miss Bay Village Scholarship Program at 7 p.m. Feb. 28 at Bay High School's auditorium, 29230 Wolf Road.
The winner of Miss Bay Village will be awarded a $500 scholarship for her college or graduate school education. Additional awards will also be awarded for over-all winners in interview, swimsuit and talent.
The new Miss Bay Village will go on to compete for the title of Miss Ohio in June, in Mansfield, OH. The winner of the state pageant will represent Ohio at the Miss America Pageant.
The Miss Bay Village Scholarship Program is an official Miss America preliminary competition. The Miss America Organization isone of the nation's leading achievement programs and the world's largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women.
Last year, the Miss America Organization and its state and local organizations donated more than $45 million in cash andscholarship assistance.
This years contestants include Jen Ciccone, 23-years-old from Poland, Sherry El Sakr, 22-years-old from Strongsville, Krystle Formosa, 22-years-old from Brookpark, Hollie Hongosh, 20-years-old from Olmsted Township, Alicia Huyghe, 21-years-old from Uhrichesville, Jackie Jerlecki, 20-years-old from Goshen, IN, Ashley Miller, 18-years-old from Patriot, Maria Minnick, 19-years-old from Waterville, and Emily Pheils, 19-years-old from Rossford.
