] Date Posted: 05:34:18 03/04/09 Wed I am so glad you actually said it is semi glitz. Last year we attended a prelim and were shocked at the hair and makeup. The website specifically says age appropriate hair and make up and that it is a natural, albeit not totally natural, pageant. I don't have a problem with semi glitz, I just don't have the time, knowledge or resources to have my girls compete in that arena. I wish I had known more of what to expect before we had gone. I even went as far as to tell my daughter if she was uncomfortable that we could leave, but she wanted to stay. We were happy, though, I have to say, that she placed 1 st runner up even without professional hair and no makeup at all. She even won overall casual wear with an outfit I got on clearance at Belk for $11. I am glad we stayed because Hannah made friends and had a generally fun afternoon, but I just wish they would update their website to reflect the fact that it really is a semi glitz pageant. I also learned alot about the "glitzier" mom stereotypes. There may be a few that act that way as there are a few soccer moms, cheer moms and any other activity moms that can be less than inspiring company, but from what we experienced, everyone was nice and welcoming.
