Sometimes it just helps to vent to other people about pageants, because pageant moms can understand one another's feelings. Yes, we (pageant moms) know that our dd can't win every pageant and that we pay for the judges' opinions of our children. Personally, I think it's best that pageant coaches shouldn't be directors because that's a conflict of interest, and I think that directors should train their judges in how to judge the contestants. Part of the scoring should be on facial beauty and attire, but a lot of that is subjective. A third of the scoring is usually based on stage presence (confidence) and that's where modeling comes in, which is where the judges can be more objective. This is where ties can be broken. If there are ties, by all means the directors should allow for this and give two crowns for that age division or more supremes and less cash. I don't think the cash is as important for the kids and moms as the crowns are. I am thankful that Rebecca did give the cash prizes for 23 contestants and the nice gifts. She really didn't have to do that for everyone. I hope that some of the suggestions moms and others have shared for Royal Dreams will help her in future pageants.
