Subject: Miss Louisiana Pageant

The Miss Louisiana Scholarship Organization announces a Press Conference to Kick-Off the 46th annual Pageant held here in Monroe June 18 – 20, 2009. The Press Conference will be held May 29th at 4 pm on the steps of Monroe City Hall. The Chairman of the Board for the Miss America Organization and former Worldwide Head of Television for the William Morris Agency in Hollywood and, Members of the Miss Louisiana Organization Board and Contestants will be on hand. The Organization will recognize the major television sponsors, the Monroe-West Monroe Convention and Visitors Bureau, Executive Director Alana Cooper, Mayor Jamie Mayo, the City Councilmen and the City of Monroe, Capital One Bank, Dr. James Cofer and the University of Louisiana at Monroe, the Big Whit 77 Foundation, Louisiana Tech University, Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu and the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, Office of Tourism.

Also on May 29th at 7:00 pm on the 7th floor of the University of Louisiana at Monroe’s Library, The Miss Louisiana Scholarship Organization will also host a dinner and book signing, “An Evening with Sam Haskell,” Chairman of the Board for the Miss America Organization and former Worldwide Head of Television for the William Morris Agency in Hollywood. Sam recently wrote a book entitled “Promises I Made My Mother.” The public is invited to both the press conference and the dinner. Preliminary nights of competition will be held Thursday, June 18 and Friday, June 19, at 7:30 pm and the Finals will begin with the pre-show at 7:30 pm and the Finals will be televised statewide beginning at 8 pm on Saturday, June 20th from the Monroe Civic Center, W.L. Jack Howard Theatre. Producer, Wayne Gentry said, “Pageants present young women in a real competition and is one of the original TV reality shows. The Miss Louisiana Organization is a Volunteer based Board of Directors that work hard to share the accomplishments of the 29 contestants and the scholarship program offered to young women.”

The Miss Louisiana Pageant will broadcast the finals Saturday, June 20th at 8 pm. The tentative station line-up for the Miss Louisiana Finals is, KNOE-TV8 in Monroe, KLFY - Channel 10 in Lafayette/Lake Charles, KPXJ Channel 21 in Shreveport, WBTR – Channel 41 in Baton Rouge, KLAX - Channel 31 in Alexandria, KWBJ – Channel 39 in Morgan City and WUPL-TV Channel 54 in New Orleans. In cooperation with Network Foundation Technologies (www.NiFTyTV.com) and Eric Hill of Hill Technologies, LLC for the third year the Pageant will also be webcast each night of competition June 18 – 20. The Miss Louisiana’s Outstanding Teen Pageant will once again kick-off Pageant week in Monroe with the Preliminaries on Sunday, June 14th at 5:30 pm and the Finals on Monday, June 15th at 7:30 pm, at the Monroe Civic Center, W.L. Jack Howard Theatre. The 2009 Miss Louisiana’s Outstanding Teen Pageant will have twenty-five Contestants who will compete for the title and will perform in production numbers with their Fleur de Lis Princesses and will feature Miss Louisiana’s Outstanding Teen 2008, April Nelson.
