Nobody saw it coming, and there had been little actual preparation for an heir to take Philip's place as ruler of Macedon. That did not stop the young bodyguard from plunging the dagger into his chest and stealing his life. It did not stop him from setting Greece aflame with strife, discord, and battle as a new successor stepped up to fill his shoes.

Alexander III of Macedon; or as you may remember him: [i]Alexander the Great[/i].

Just past his 20th birthday, Alexander is young, yet old enough to find the crown placed with reticence upon his golden head. Immediately the world is set to challenge him - neighboring tribes burn the treaties they'd made with Philip and turn on Macedon, rumors swarm the palace that it was his and his mother's hand that plotted to steal the King's life, and the men who pledged their sword-arm to his father do not easily follow.

But he has always dreamed of outdoing his father; outdoing Achilles and all others before him. With the help of the Gods and those that would stand beside him, Alexander moves all those loyal in his company toward equal greatness with only one thing driving him: freeing all the known world from barbarism and enlightening them to the glory of Greece!

[i]Rise of an Empire is an Ancient Greek play-by-post RPG that travels through an AU version of Alexander the Great's military campaigns and life in the cities he conquers. The story begins in 336 BC; just moments after Alexander's father Philip II of Macedon is assassinated. ROAE uses true characters from history, original creations, and main Gods of the Greek Pantheon and allows players to tweak them to fit the plot. Present and future decisions and events are AU and we encourage creativity in the historical timeline of events moving forward.[/i]
