Subject: In Hohenfels area when Chernobyl

I was in Darshofen Germany, a village close to Hohenfels Training Area, with my two small sons and their father when Chernobyl went. We were there until 1990. I remember all the recommendations not to go in the grass or eat the fresh food and milk. We drank cartoned shelf milk during the months following. I even remember instructions to keep the pets out of the wet grass and from drinking from puddles.

This year I have been going through treatment for breast cancer. There is no family history. I blamed the cancer on the two years of hormone replacement therapy, but now I am wondering. During a CT scan they found an enlarged thyroid. I checked and found this site on line. After reading about conditions of the thyroid for those who were children at the time. I phoned one of my now grown sons and he told me his last physical found elevated thyroid levels. I am contacting my other son as soon as I finish this.
