Subject: It bolted me out of bed and then I ran back and forth trying to stop two hanging globe lamps from hitting the walls and shattering for about 60 seconds.

 The lamps survived. My dry witted brother came out of his room and asked if anyone was dead? Mom and I were fine.

We didn’t hear from my father, who had already left for work, for several hours. I’m sure those were some of the longest hours of my mother’s adult life.
