The one thing I've noticed about Paul's posts is a seeming lack of experience with people/animals who suffer much. I suspect if he had looked death in the face enough, his views would be quite a bit different.

It isn't easy to make a decision to put a pet to sleep. You make it because it's a favor to the pet. It stops their suffering. No one I dare say, (normally) wants to kill their beloved pet. They do it out of compassion. They do it because they don't want to see the thing they love have to suffer while they stand by and watch.

Frankly, I think it's insulting of Paul to assume that making the call to put something to sleep is somehow "easy", or something of which no emotion is invested in. It takes much emotion, and it's a big decision. In an imperfect world, imperfect decisions must be made. This is just merely one of many.
