Spill Responder - On Call

General Description of Job:
The Spill Responder is responsible for ensuring that all clean-up is in full compliance with regulations and that the accumulation, monitoring and disposal of spill waste is maintained.
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
Comply with all guidelines, policies and procedures established by CCI while on shift, on call or attending training.
Respond to and clean-up spills in the area(s) assigned, ensuring spill safety area(s) assigned, ensuring spill site safety, appropriate application of clean-up methods, safe operations of equipment and minimal environmental impact and adherence to regulatory guidelines.
Hazardous Waste Management including attending all required educational classes and ensuring that all activities are on compliance with regulations.
Communicate daily status of current projects to Lead Spill Technician to ensure all projects are timely and within CCI standards.
Maintain 100% “Compliance Readiness” in all areas or mandatory/regulatory requirements.
Maintain 100% “Safety Standards and Accountability” in all areas or mandatory/regulatory requirements, which include:
Compliance with required HSE training.
Taking necessary action when behaviors or conditions around you may be unsafe. Reporting and addressing all potential safety concerns/incidents/issues promptly.
Facilitating or participating in CCI safety meetings, work safely and maintain a safe work environment as an employee and representative of CCI. Willingly participate and assist in any investigation that may relate to a safety incident. Document and record any injury or near miss incident that may occur while you are working.
Assist with spill clean-up outside assigned location when directed to do so by CCI.
Maintain and demonstrate proficient working knowledge of all response-related equipments, policies, procedures and tactics at all times.
Other Responsibilities:
Participate in the CCI active list for spill responders.
Attend and participate in required meetings, training, exercises and drills.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications Mandatory:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Class “A” CDL with good driving record.
Must have excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills that include good listening, providing clear direction and effective feedback.
Ability to work well with others in an environment that includes harsh weather conditions, remote locations and diversified personalities.
Ability to clearly speak, write, read and understand the English language.
40 Hour HAZWOPER or 8 Hour HAZWOPER Refresher certificate.
Current HAZWOPER physical including respirator fit test and audiogram.
Ability to wear and perform job functions using a respirator (half or full-face).
May be required: Current NSTC card including training in: Blood borne Pathogens, Confined Space Entry, Energy Isolation, Respirator Protection, Hearing Conservation, Fall Protection, Hydrogen Sulfide Awareness, ASH 2006, Smith System Driving, Environmental Management Awareness, Golden Rules/Driving/Safety Awareness, Scaffold Awareness, Decision Pt. Hazard Recognition, Seta Card, Fire Extinguisher, Benzene/Nitrogen Awareness .
Preferred Qualifications:
Basic computer experience, including the ability to take online training, email general reports and use Microsoft Word.
Current CPR and First Aid certificate.
Work Environment: Flexibility regarding hours of work is required as needed to meet demands of the job. Position may be recalled at any time during spill emergencies. This may require 0vertime.
This is an on call, as need position and can be assigned at various places with in the state of Alaska to include the North Slope.
Position may be exposed to extremely hostile weather conditions at times while working outdoors. Arctic PPE is provided.
Position may require working with potentially hazardous materials and wastes.
Safety-toe footwear is required at all times while working.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
Physical Requirements: Physical and technical requirements that meet the standards of CCI. Lifting up to 70lbs, pushing/pulling up to 100lbs, carrying up to 50lbs, shoveling up to 20lbs, frequent walking and standing, occasional keyboard use, sitting, bending, twisting and reaching.
